Open-world auto-battler RPG Illuvium has rolled out its latest update, Patch 1.1.0, which introduces a new gameplay feature called Gauntlet Leviathan Mode.
This mode allows players to leverage their NFT collections of Illuvials, Weapons, and Suits, putting them to the test in a more strategic and dynamic environment.
Along with this major update, the patch also brings a range of bug fixes, gameplay improvements, and enhancements to the game’s Overworld and Arena modes.

What is Gauntlet Leviathan Mode?
Gauntlet Leviathan Mode is the latest addition to Illuvium, offering players a unique challenge where they can use their owned NFTs, such as Illuvials, Weapons, and Suits, with each unit retaining its real-world power levels.
Unlike other game modes, this feature prioritizes the player’s highest-level assets in the shop, giving those who have invested time and resources into leveling up their collections a tactical advantage.
Units that players don’t own will appear at a standardized level 1, while owned units keep their levels. The shop dynamically recalculates the available units based on what’s already on the player’s board, bench, or armory, meaning that once a unit is deployed or equipped, it’s excluded from the shop until sold or fused. This system adds a strategic layer, as players must carefully manage their assets to maximize their effectiveness in battle.
Additionally, only Stage 1 Illuvials are available in the shop, meaning higher-stage units must be fused. Weapons and Suits follow the same mechanics, with the highest-level versions appearing first and those already in use unavailable for purchase.

Other Patch 1.1.0 Updates
Beyond Gauntlet Leviathan Mode, Patch 1.1.0 introduces several improvements to Illuvium’s Overworld and Arena modes.
For the Overworld, the patch significantly overhauls Illuvial spawn weights, ensuring that higher-stage Illuvials are now more common and that the net expected value per cost is more balanced across regions. Players will also find fusion costs for Tier 5 Illuvials have increased by 50%, whilst the curing cost for Resplendent Shards has been reduced to 1000.
Arena mode has seen the introduction of randomized runs in the Survival arena, adding a new level of unpredictability. Additionally, players can now face more waves, though the new limit remains undisclosed, encouraging players to explore this update themselves.
