Azuki Premieres First Episode of Anime Anthology: ‘The Waiting Man’

Yesterday, Azuki, in collaboration with Dentsu Inc., a global advertising giant active in anime entertainment, premiered ‘The Waiting Man’—the first part of its three-part anime anthology series ‘Enter the Garden‘.

Goro Taniguchi, the Japanese director behind the iconic anime films ‘Code Geass’ and ‘One Piece Film Red’, leads Azuki’s latest creative endeavor. His ultimate aim is to “revolutionize industry standards with innovation and decentralization.”

The Waiting Man showcases exceptional voice talent and follows the rebellious skater Haru as she encounters T.K., a mysterious figure by a vending machine.

The Waiting Man’s Creative Team

Azuki, in collaboration with Dentsu and Taniguchi, presents the anime trilogy directed by Junichi Yamamoto, acclaimed for his work on the anime series ‘Your Name’.

Taku Kishimoto’s script provides immersion, while the stellar ensemble cast, featuring luminaries like Tomokazu Sugita (Gintoki in Gintama), Akari Kito (Nezuko in Demon Slayer), and Jun Fukuyama (Lelouch Lamperouge in Code Geass), adds depth to the characters.

Kinu Nishimura’s intricate designs, alongside artist Steamboy, further enhance the series’ stories. Their partnership spanning two decades infuses the project with experience and a shared vision.

Nishimura’s designs for characters like Haru and Spaceboy add vibrant layers to the Azuki world, complementing Enter the Garden’s street fashion style. Meanwhile, Steamboy’s inspiration from classic anime shapes the creative process, contributing to the authenticity of the characters.

The masterminds behind the initial Azuki series, The Waiting Man, blend innovation with tradition, inviting viewers on a captivating journey that breaks typical Anime norms.

Stay tuned for the next two installments of Enter the Garden, which will be arriving in 2024.
