3D ‘Moonbirds Universe’ Unveiled After Yuga Labs’ PROOF Buyout

Following its acquisition of PROOF Collective in February, Yuga Labs is developing the ‘Moonbirds Universe’—a virtual world featuring 3D avatars optimized for animation and interaction in digital spaces like the Otherside.

As part of its evolution, Moonbirds now requires character ownership for creative activities, shifting away from Creative Commons. “Starting today, Moonbirds joins Mythics as a collection with commercial rights,” announced the OG NFT brand on X.

Award-winning artist and director Colin Hesterly is leading the creative overhaul of this intriguing ecosystem. His extensive experience will elevate the visual and functional appeal of the project’s iconic pixelated owl characters.

A statement saying, “Moonbirds are going to be more than just a pixel jpg,” highlights the ambitious scope of what’s in the making.

Beyond the Digital Universe

Interestingly, the aspirations of the Moonbirds Universe extend beyond digital boundaries. The brand seeks to establish its presence in the real world through physical collectibles, aiming to “bring the brand to life”.

What’s more, an upcoming event aligned with Apefest 2024 in Lisbon this October is designed to bring the Moonbirds community together.

With the backing of Yuga Labs, Moonbirds is on a trajectory to redefine the boundaries of NFT engagement and creative expression, forging ahead with its innovative and expansive Universe in both virtual and real worlds.
