Telegram, the popular instant-messaging platform, announces its plan to tokenize stickers and emojis, transforming them into NFTs on the TON blockchain.
This move follows Telegram’s recent tokenization of usernames and anonymous numbers, which allowed users to claim up to 95% of sales revenue.
By extending tokenization to stickers and emojis, Telegram aims to further integrate the app with the TON blockchain, leveraging its scalability and further provide communication solutions to its expansive user base.

Telegram’s Extensive Usage of Stickers
Pavel Durov, co-founder and CEO of Telegram, shared this announcement during the Token2049 event in Dubai.
He revealed the extensive usage of stickers on Telegram, with over 700 billion shared monthly, saying, “We believe in NFTs that are deeply integrated into human culture, into human interaction, into our communication. NFTs that you can see tens of billions of times and they have a lot of potential to spread virally. These are the right NFTs. That’s why the next step that we are going to undertake is tokenizing Telegram stickers.”
The TON blockchain recently integrated stablecoins like Tether’s USDT and XAUT, offering new avenues for peer-to-peer payments and decentralized applications. Durov mentioned that its scalability makes it a fitting platform to accommodate Telegram’s large-scale operations.
